Setting Default OS Using System Properties
The first way to set a default OS on a Windows dual-boot computer is using System Properties. To set a default OS on a Windows dual-boot computer using System Properties, follow the steps given below-

Firstly, open the Start Menu by pressing the Windows key on your keyboard.In the Start Menu, search for System Properties and hit Enter to open System Properties. Now in the System Properties app, head to the Advanced tab.Under the Startup and Recovery section in the Advanced tab, click on Settings. You will be headed to a new Startup and Recovery window.
Click on the drop-down menu below Default operating system.
From the drop-down menu, select the operating system that you want to set as your default OS. After you have done this, click on OK, and close the System Properties window.
This will see the OS as the default, and every time you boot your PC this OS will be loaded if you didn’t select an option.
Setting Default OS From System Configuration
If you don’t want to go with the System Properties method that we have listed above, then you can use System Configuration to set the default OS on a Windows dual-boot computer. To use System Configuration to set default OS, follow the steps given below-
Open the Run Dialog Box on your PC. You can do so by pressing the Windows + R key combo on your keyboard.In the Run Dialog Box, type msconfig and hit Enter or click on OK to open the System Configuration app.Now in the System Configuration app, head to the Boot tab.This will show you both the operating systems that you have installed on your PC. You will also e able to see which OS is the current OS and which is the default OS from here.
Now select the OS that you want to set as default. After doing so, click on Set As Default. If you already see the Default OS label for that operating system, then it means that the OS is already your default OS.After doing so, click on Apply and then click on OK. You will get a prompt asking you to restart your PC to make the changes. If you don’t want to restart right now, then you can click on Exit without restart. If you want to restart your PC now, then you can click on Apply and your PC will be restarted.
