Checking Traffic Using App

You can check the traffic on your route from work to home and then use the Google Maps app to do so. You must install Google Maps on your phone first to continue ahead. If you are using an Android phone, then this app will be pre-installed on your phone. However, if you have an iPhone, you can download and install the app from the App Store. Once you have the Google Maps app on your phone, you can continue with the steps ahead to check the traffic-

Firstly, open the Google Maps app on your phone.Tap on the Hamburger icon and then tap on Your Places.

Note- Ensure you have your workplace and home saved on Google Maps. If that’s not done, we will discuss how to do it later in this article.

Now, select either Work or Home from the places.Tap on Directions to get the directions to your location.Now, tap on the Stack icon and then on Traffic.

You will now be able to see traffic conditions denoted in color- red (heavy traffic), orange (moderate traffic), and green (no traffic).

Checking Traffic Using Browser 

Another way to check how’s the traffic by using the browser. To do so, follow the steps given below-

Open the browser on your PC (Windows or Mac) and head to the Google Maps  website. Ensure you are logged in to your Google Account and if not then do that first.Here, click on the Menu icon at the top left corner.You will have to select either your workplace or home place now. Once done, click on Directions.Click on the Menu icon again and then click on Traffic.

You will now be able to see the traffic on your route.

Using Google Chrome

If you want to save yourself the hassle of checking the traffic using the app or your PC, then you can simply use Google Chrome. It is much easier to check traffic on Google Chrome than on any other browser. To do so, follow the steps given below-

Firstly, open Google Chrome on your device.In the search bar, type How’s the traffic to work or How’s the traffic to home, depending on whether you want to know the traffic from home to work or from work to home.This will show you the traffic from your current location to your destination. If you have not added your home/work location then you will be prompted to do that first.

Check Traffic At Different Times

Google Maps has a unique feature that allows you to get traffic at a particular time. To do so, follow the steps given below-

Firstly, open the Google Maps app on your phone or head to their website.Now enter the destination where you want to go to and also enter the starting point.You will now see the route of your journey.Click on the three dots at the top right corner, and then click on Set depart or arrive time.Once you set the duration, you will get to know about the traffic condition at a particular time. This also allows you to check the traffic conditions at different times.

Set Home And Workplace

If you want to set Home and workplace but don’t know how to do so, then you can follow the steps given below-

Open the Google Maps app and tap on the Saved icon.Here, tap on the Labelled option.You will see Home and Work here.Tap on Home to set up a home address and tap on Work to a setup work address.Once done, you will successfully add home and workplace to Google Maps.
